Hot off the Press!
From Waini (close to the Venezuelan border) to Moleson Creek, site of the Guyana/Suriname Ferry Service on the Corentyne River, the coastland is where 90 percent of the people live and is the hub of the country including Georgetown – Guyana’s heartbeat.
From Waramuri in the Northwest to Orealla and Wonotobo falls on the Corentyne River, this area is where the bauxite industry is located and contains the ruins of key historical sites at Fort Kyk-ver-Al on the Essequibo and Fort Nassau in Berbice.
Covering over 85 percent of the country, this region is sparsely populated but contains considerable forestry and mineral wealth.
The Pakaraima and Rupununi savannahs in the southwest are wide open country containing some spectacular scenery.
This 35-minute long documentary on Guyanese Amerindians contains over 300 captivating photographs and texts that will give readers a visual journey into the everyday life and other issues of the nine Amerindian tribes currently living in Guyana: Ackawaois, Arawaks, Arekunas, Caribs, Makushi, Patamona, Wai Wai, Wapishana, and Warrau.
